Mortgage lenders require proof of income when they assess your eligibility. These are the kind of documents they may ask for:
PAYE Employed:
Most lenders require 3-6 months’ worth of payslips but there are some that will need a additional P60's or employers reference.
Sole traders and limited company directors:

Three years’ SA302’s (also known as a Tax Calculation/ Personal Tax Computation). These would need to be accompanied by the corresponding Tax Year Overviews.
If a business has been trading for less than 3 years, there are still lenders who will be happy to help. There are also some lenders that will consider net profit for a limited company and require the company accounts.
Other Documents:
• Three months bank statements.
• Proof of government benefits e.g. award letters.
